our vision, mission, & values
At Kindman & Co., we honor the humanity of our clients and our teammates first. This perspective deeply informs our work and our team is dedicated to incorporating a values-forward approach to all that we do. This means that you can expect your therapist to take a stand against racism, homophobia, ableism, sexism, and more dominant forms of oppression. This also means that we strive to embody our values as a team and in how we run our practice—from business decisions and policies, to paying our team members sustainable wages and benefits, to regularly examining how we’re doing and identifying areas and taking actions to be doing better. kindman & co.’s vision
Kindman & Co. is a sustainable and collaborative community of therapists committed to challenging social injustice through our work. We exist to help create thriving communities by nourishing intimate relationships, healing trauma, and bringing about positive social change.
our mission
To provide social justice informed, relational psychotherapy that values building meaningful connections and integrates the insight of the body
To provide affirming and competent relational psychotherapy for populations that have, both historically and currently, been excluded and oppressed by our society and its systems
To use therapy as a vehicle for creating a more just society by practicing and continually striving to improve our work as anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and social justice informed therapists
To educate clients, team members, and our community about our human wiring as social creatures and cultivate skills that value the essential importance of relationships and challenge the harms of disconnection and systemic oppression
To value ongoing learning, growth, humility, and repair in relationships with clients, supervisors, colleagues, and community members
To be leaders in modeling vulnerability, transparency, and authenticity and help our clients do the same
To inform clients and our community about the shortcomings of the medical model and help facilitate a shift towards de-pathologizing human distress
To prioritize the sustainability of all roles at our practice by conceptualizing the wellbeing of our clinicians, administrative staff, and leaders as an essential part of ongoing client care
To maintain a connected group of therapists who are able to care for and support one another
To honor the complex and intersectional humanity of each of our clients and team members
Our Core Values

Curiosity: Lead with a spirit of inquiry toward self and others
Showingupness: Reliability, consistency, care, intentionality, thoughtfulness
Sustainability: Feeling supported and offering support, healthy boundary setting, seeking help when needed
Context: Holding the systems and circumstances of both our clients and our practice in mind by considering intersectionality, structures of oppression, and other forces that impact our individual, relational, and collective experiences
Complexity: Honoring the multifaceted nature of human relationships, acknowledging our shared impact on one another, and holding together ideas that seem contradictory
Cooperation: Prioritizing communication, collaboration, and repair
Humanity: Accepting imperfection, respecting others, appreciating diversity, making space for personal stuff, allowing space for a range of emotions–including celebration and joy, and valuing the qualities that make us human
We thank all of our clients and community members for helping us work towards our vision and mission by supporting and engaging in the work we do together.
