hello,

I believe that the personal is political & that our collective liberation is intertwined.

I help humans go from avoidance, fear, & disengagement, to having ease, joy, and connection.

About steve (he/him)

I am here to help you embrace your authenticity and find liberation from stories, patterns, habits and ways of being that don't fit who you want to be.

My purpose is to help you find loving connection with yourself, your loved ones, and the world around you. I am here to walk alongside you and be relentlessly encouraging. I will help you learn useful ways of moving through distress and provide honest feedback when it feels like you are on shaky ground. I believe that you hold the roadmap to your own growth and healing—I am here to help move the barriers, shine light in the places that trip you up, and support you when moving forward feels too difficult to do alone.

As a white, queer, cisgender male, issues of queerness and feminist masculinity are close to my heart. I am dedicated to supporting other white, cis men to cultivate their own vulnerable, feminist masculinity and allyship. I know firsthand the complexity of holding intersecting identities of power, privilege, and oppression and want to help you navigate the contradictory and sometimes chaotic nature of identity—to develop a courageous, compassionate, and unified sense of who you are.

I am passionate about working with young adults navigating adulthood and transitioning into life beyond families of origin; folks healing from racial trauma and minority stress; and couples and partners looking for better communication, security, and connection. I am especially drawn to working with adolescents and young adults embracing queerness and expressing their authentic selves in a culture that bombards us with prescriptive messages about who we are and how we should be.

I am also down to get all existential about it! We can explore the big questions of freedom, responsibility, humanity, and meaning together. As someone who changed fields many times before becoming a therapist, I know the challenge of finding true purpose and reward in our work—and finding that elusive work-life-rest balance.

Let’s celebrate your uniqueness, the intersections of your identity, and help you feel more integrated, authentic, and liberated in your relationships with others and the world.

supporting LGBTQIA+ folks, CNM partners, & families

My previous experience at community mental health agencies has prepared me to support a diverse population of clients navigating relationship distress; gender and sexual identity; and the trauma of being undersupported and oppressed in our families, relationships, and society. I deeply and personally understand the complexities of queer experience and want to help other queer individuals and partners, parents of queer and trans youth, and those practicing consensual non-monogamy (CNM) to build thriving, connected, & healing relationships

I am here to help you make ethical agreements, communicate empathically and effectively, and bridge cultural and intersectional differences so you can have greater pleasure, fulfillment, and joy in your partnership(s).

i am…

I am a queer man, a feminist, a loving partner, and an anxious dog dad. I am a dancer in the shower and a singer in the car. I am finally aware that rest is a part of the work. I am always here for your recommendations of the *best* vegetarian (fill in the blank). I stand for pleasure, liberation, and loving connection for myself, and all beings. I am a firm believer that disco and rock & roll can coexist. I have been a teacher, tutor, publicist, recruiter, bookseller, cabinetmaker, and a zip-line tour guide. I am a NorCal kid at heart and liable to call you "dude," but I totally get it if you don't want me to.
